WHAT’S THE BUZZ IN HOLLYWOOD : IS THE WOLF OF WALL STREET – THE 2013 OSCAR – NOMINATED MOVIE – LINKED TO MONEY STOLEN FROM BEHRAD, A MALAYSIAN SOVEREIGN WEALTH FUND ?

The U.S. Department of Justice – The United States Department of Justice (DOJ), also known as the Justice Department, responsible for the enforcement of the law and  administrattion of justice in the United States,  filed a civil suit on July 29, 2016 against the film makers of The Wolf of Wall Street,  a movie about guys using inappropriately acquired funds for lavish parties, alleging that much of the money used to fund the film was stolen from the Malaysian people.

The US Department of Justice is looking to seize $1 Billion in assets.

Also, the federal government is now attempting to seize, among many other assets in the wide-ranging, $3.5 billion money laundering scheme, the rights to future profits from the 2013 Oscar – nominated movie, itself about financial misdoings.

The case focuses around  1 Malaysia Development Berhad, a Sovereign Wealth Fund set up by the Malaysian government to invest worldwide, with the profits benefiting the Malaysian people.
