PHIL PROF

Phil and the « training bug »….

WHY I DO FIND TRANSFERING BUSINESS KNOWLEDGE A FASCINATING AND REWARDING EXPERIENCE ?

BY PROF Philippe-Henri LATIMIER, Ph.D.

  •  WHAT IS MY BACKGROUND ?

I studied Business and Politics  in Paris and in the USA and went to do a Ph.D. at La Sorbonne before becoming a Certified Business Appraiser.

I then started working with some of the leading Corporate and Investment Banks including, Citibank, Merrill Lynch, The National Bank of Kuwait, and the Cie Financière Edmond de Rothschild Group.

  •  HOW DID I GET INTO  TEACHING, TRAINING AND EXECUTIVE EDUCATION ?

When I turned 24, I started teaching at THE EUROPEAN BUSINESS SCHOOL ( EBS ).

At the time, I was with Citibank.

The Dean asked me to run some courses and that’s where I got the “training bug” !

35 years later, I am still on the Faculty of some of the top European and US Business Schools, and I am as enthusiastic and passionate about training today as I was at 24 !

  •  WHAT IS MY FAVOURITE COURSE THAT I LOVE TO TEACH ?

More than one !

Project Financing and Cost of Capital/Capital Structure are my passions.

Project Finance is one of the hottest topics in Corporate Finance…as an effective alternative to conventional direct financing, it is being used more frequently on a wide variety of projects.

Teaching this course is like distilling the complexities of this important finance technique with an insightful  perspective, blending the theoretical with the practical.

I just love it !

Why do I enjoy teaching Cost of Capital/Capital Structure ?

Because to me creating shareholder value is the objective of every company today.

Cost of Capital is what counts when it comes to linking Strategy and Share Price !

Being able to calculate the Cost of Capital for any Company in the Marketplace is essential for Investors to evaluate potential opportunities.

I love teaching this course because it examines the whole Philosophy of Value Creation and Shareholder Value.

It gives me the opportunity to deliver a practical and robust framework for the application of the key to Financial Excellence.

  • WHAT MAKES ME UNIQUE IN THE CLASSROOM ?

My willingness to share my Business Expertise with the participants as well as my commitment to Teaching Excellence  and I guess my ( Parisian ) sense of humor …

  •   WHY AM I PASSIONATE ABOUT TRAINING ?

I personally find transferring Business Knowledge a fascinating and rewarding mission !
