DIGI X

ABOUT THE FUTURE OF BUSINESS & SOCIETY : WELCOME TO THE DIGITIZATION & DIGITALIZATION WORLDS.

‘Digitization’ and ‘digitalization’ are two conceptual terms that are closely associated and often used interchangeably in a broad range of literatures.

The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) traces the first uses of the terms ‘digitization’ and ‘digitalization’ in conjunction with computers to the mid-1950s.

In the OED, digitization refers to “the action or process of digitizing; the conversion of analogue data (esp. in later use images, video, and text) into digital form.”

Digitalization, by contrast, refers to “the adoption or increase in use of digital or computer technology by an organization, industry, country, etc.”

Digital technology is transforming our societies at a rapide pace, with disruptive innovation revolutionizing whole industries over the course of several months and years.

Thanks to companies such as Amazon and Apple, they now expect every organization to deliver products and services swiftly, with a seamless user experience.

Governments must act faster to help people and firms to make greater use of the Internet and remove regulatory barriers to digital innovation or else risk missing out on the potentially huge economic and social benefits of the digital economy.

Our message : Time has come to support open innovation policies and to develop cross – sector synergies as well,  in order to get the global economy back on track.

The sooner, the better !
